On the weekend of November 22, 2015 there will be a Stewardship Renewal at Pope John XXIII parish. The renewal is a call to reaffirm and upgrade our commitments of support and participation that were made by parishioners in January 2012. Time will be set aside at all the Masses for the faithful of the parish to indicate their intentions regarding financial support for the parish. Offertory intention cards and envelopes will be in the pews. Parishioners will once again be encouraged to enroll in electronic giving.

Although the increased offering program conducted in January 2012 was successful, the response has faded slightly even as the needs have increased. This renewal of our Stewardship of Treasure Program is in response to the need for the parish and each of us individually to review where we are in our stewardship, our sharing of our resources for the fulfillment of the parish mission and vision.

What we do through our extensive faith formation program, outreach ministries, stewardship program and Sacramental and liturgical celebrations flows from the Gospel mission of the parish. The funding that has made possible all the work and ministry and maintained and improved our facilities has come from the support and generosity of the people of Pope John XXIII Parish. Your support and generosity though must continue and even grow in order to keep pace with the challenges to continue our ministries, be able to assist parishioners and families in need and to maintain our facilities. This pamphlet and in particular the Guideline to Giving is offered to assist us in making a decision for the future.

May God bless you for your generosity and for all you have done to further the mission of Pope John XXIII Parish. May we make our contribution to the future of the community of faith with the same spirit of all those over the years who have blessed us with such a vibrant parish community.

School Supplies Drive is a Success

Dear Pope John XXIII:

We truly appreciate the school supply donations again this year. Many students have benefited from your generosity. It is through your kindness that brings relief to so many families who cannot afford to buy school supplies. Thank you very much!

So you see – 20 years strong and the need and appreciation continues. Nothing like the smell of new crayons or a brand new backpack. You make this happen!

Pope John XXIII parishioners – you are the best!!

Thank you,

Faith Formation

Faith Formation classes will be starting soon. Make sure to sign your children up. Information and letters were mailed out at the beginning of August. If for some reason you did not receive one, please call Mrs. Fallon at 315.652.1094 or email her.

We are discussing changing the Grade 5 & 6 classes from Monday night to Thursday night. Please let us know if this will or will not work for you. We would like to accommodate as many people as possible. We know schedules are hectic and hopefully having most grades on the same night will help to alleviate some of that frantic rushing around.

We are very excited to have our children back for classes. We have the dates, times and other information on the Faith Formation link of the website. If you still have questions, feel free to call Mrs. Fallon at 315.652.1094 or email her.

2015 Community Picnic

Once again Pope John XXIII parish was blessed with a wonderful, beautiful day for our Annual Community Picnic Sunday August 9. Around 450 people enjoyed great food, activities for children, including bouncy houses, a Bubble show, face painting, music and 15 classic cars to review. Numerous people from the neighborhood who came in response to the parish invitation also commented on the welcoming spirit of the parish. Through the leadership of the Evangelization Committee the day has become more than just a parish picnic. It has become an opportunity to reach out to others in the area and invite and welcome them to our community. The beautiful day was provided by the Lord but everything else was made possible by the generous work and effort of almost 50 volunteers.

Our special thanks to Len Gass, chairperson, Mary LaMacchia, who arranged for all the publicity and volunteers: Joan Wells, Sharon Hambrecht, Damir Klapan, John & Mary Kay Schramm, Ted Emmanuel, Selina Lazarus, Jim & Cheri Putnam, Ed Mott, Eileen Holodak, Mikayla Perry, Margi Lawrence, Gregg & Wanda Salem, Kevin McLaughlin, Sam Spadaro, Mary Patrick, Genevieve Pieniazek, Mychal Emmanuel, Frank & Pat Dober, Abby Hope, Elizabeth Gass, Rosie Petrella, Ralph & Joan Jahnige, Tim & Michelle Callahan, John McMakin & grandson Dawson, John Schaffer, Marcus Niessen, Don & Pat Mac Laughlin, Jeanne Rhodehamel, Jean Kwasigroch, Joe Fontanella, Mary & Joe LaMacchia, Frank Sylvester, Rick Beiswenger, Len Gass, Dawn Marie Rau, Frank Stancato, and  David & Rosemary Morgan.
